BTTC played a pivotal role as Alliance Head of Commercial in modernising the East Coast Mainline's critical infrastructure to support the introduction of faster, more sustainable electric train travel across one of the UK's busiest rail corridors. Leading a 25-professional team, we implemented innovative governance, risk management, and commercial strategies that fundamentally transformed project delivery. Our comprehensive approach focused on proactive commercial management, creating a solutions-oriented culture, and strategically mitigating potential risks through robust workshop interventions and early warning resolution.

The project successfully delivered 46 new electrical substations and route-wide cabling while maintaining strict budgetary controls. The result was an award-winning initiative recognised as the ‘Collaborative Project of the Year 2023’ by the Institute for Collaborative Working, demonstrating our exceptional ability to navigate complex infrastructure challenges with precision, creativity, and strategic insight.
